Downloading movies illegally, can cost you a fortune
Posted Thursday, March 23, 2006 10:00:00 AM by Rose Martins

Even kids are downloading movies online, but one should take care. Using free download websites and downloading movies for free that should be paid for, can land you in a legal battle that may result in a hefty fine. But not all free downloads are illegal. Movie download

There are plenty movie clips and movie trailer downloads that are free and legal, posted on websites and made available for downloading as part of an advertising campaign. There are also many websites offering free flash movie downloads, some that are educational and interesting, and others that are really slapstick and funny.

Many of the flash movies that are downloaded to a PC, are then circulated via email. Animated series, such as Inuyasha and Anime are a very popular download. Most websites offering downloads, will charge a fee per episode that is downloaded, rather than just one fee for the whole series.

Many of the popular TV shows are now available for downloading, also at a cost per episode. The advantage is that you no longer have to worry about missing an episode. You can always just download it. Many people also prefer to download a movie and pay for it, rather than watch the movie on TV. Why? Because they prefer an uninterrupted version of the movie, with out commercial breaks.

Over the past century, America's relationship with the movies has changed constantly, evolving from daylong events in the movie palaces of old to today's era of digital cameras, three-minute downloads and YouTube-addicted cubicle-dwellers. As Turner Classic Movies (Comcast Channel 26) kicks off its annual "31 Days of Oscar" marathon today – Day 1 an unlikely mix of Woody Allen ("Broadway Danny Rose"), Federico Fellini ("La Dolce Vita") and John Huston ("The African Queen") – Robert Osborne, TCM's prime-time personality, says the awards matter more today than ever. They help casual moviegoers to cut through an more-crowded field of Oscar contenders and unearth the diamonds in the rough....

In contrast to the progress of the music industry, Hollywood studios have not yet crystallized an Internet strategy.
